KKUZA JUNIOR ACADEMY

Brief background

Way back when KCF was founded in 2019, a need for quality and accessible education was identified in the community where only a few schools existed with poor quality education. The school project involves building a school that is of high quality and will be administered to provide easy access to all children to achieve a proper education.

It was further assessed that many children never attended school as a result of their parents’ perception towards education. This however brought a big cost in the community as it facilitated many teenage pregnancy and child neglect. Therefore, as an organization whose major aim is to end teenage pregnancy we realized the need to keep children in school as we gradually change the belief and attitudes of the community towards education.

Historically, Butambala is known as an Islamic district with a big number of populations. Faming is the biggest commercial activity carried out in this district and therefore the community relies heavily on farming as their main source of income and access to food. Every year there is a season where significant challenges impact the success of their farming (such as drought, increase of prices of farming supplies, heavy rainfall etc.) and because this is their main source of generating income and accessing food, they struggle to find money to facilitate the education of their children and often go hungry.

Many children encounter challenges because of the lack of the opportunity to go to school and become street beggars, pick pocketers and involve themselves in different unsafe activities which endanger their lives and social well-being. Some of these dangerous activities include early marriage, teenage pregnancies, abuse etc.

Due to this, KCF aimed at constructing a nursery, pre and primary school so as to help people of poor, low- and middle-income children have the opportunity to achieve quality and accessible education. At future we expect to eradicate poverty to these communities since the obtained knowledge, skills and attitude to the graduate children will be used to solve all challenges.

pregnancies, abuse etc.
