In 2021, New Hope Ministries (NHM) was planted in Butambala District which for over 100 years was primarily known as a Muslim community. Although, we were hesitant to start this ministry here due to the unknown, God was really calling us and revealed his plan for this ministry through surprising us with over 80 current church members, over 40 baptisms in the last year and over 50 children attending our Sunday school program

Currently, NHM has many different programs during the week, including prayers and fasting, church practices, fellowships, bible studies, monthly overnight prayers and Sunday services. Along with this, there are many community outreach events including annual women’s conferences (Restored Women’s conference).

Since starting NHM, we have seen a difference in the community where hearts have been transformed as well as a strong fellowship of Christ followers who support each other. We are looking forward to seeing the work God will continue to do through NHM as the number of church members increases.

SUNDAY SCHOOL PROGRAM

JUNE – DEC 2022

We are so passionate about sharing God’s love to children and helping them know and understand they are cherished by Christ. Our Sunday school program allows us to really invest in the children within the community to grow up with knowledge of their value and worth because of Jesus Christ. We are intentional about designing a program based on the children’s stages of life and ensure we implement fun and enjoyment in all activities that commence. We include worship, bible reading, educational activities and a time of fun on the oval.

 

Basic Plan

Worship: 10mins

Quick game with children: 5 mins

Teachings 20mins

Quiz for children about teachings: 5 mins

Memory verse and prayer: 10 mins

Games: 10 mins

Games / Activities

Duck, Duck, Goose

This game should be played with plenty of space – on a field etc. Get the children to sit in a circle, choose one child to be “It”, The child who is “It” will go around the circle tapping each child on the head saying “duck, duck, duck” until they choose a child in the circle to be “goose”.

What’s the time Mr Wolf

This game should be played with plenty of space – on a field etc. All the children stand in a line, one child needs to be “Mr wolf”, this child who is “Mr Wolf” should stand about 2 meters in front of the children in the line but needs to be facing away from them.

Simon Says

All the children stand up and one child is “Simon”, The child who is “Simon” will come out in front of all the children and give them different instructions, but with always saying “Simon says before the instruction, for example “Simon says put your hands on your head” or “Simon says put your hands on your knees”.

Stuck in the Mud

This game should be played with plenty of space – on a field etc. Depending on how big the group is, 1 – 5 children are chosen to be “It”, all of the children need to spread out. The children who are “It” have to chase all of the other children and try to tag them.
