UPCOMING FORECASTS

OUR UPCOMING FORECASTS

As a growing organisation we have goals and dreams we have to achieve for the benefit of our community. Knowing that we have a plan for the future, it inspire/motivates us to work hard to reach our goals.

Working with organizations and teams, being a good planner is one of the best ways to earn credibility.

Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.

Good fortunate is what happens when opportunity meets with planning.

1. KUSHINDA GIRL’S CENTER

In 2019, Kkuza children’s foundation was founded in the community of Lugali – butambala district. There were continued cases of child neglect but later we realised it’s a result of teenage pregnancy (TP) that had become and is still a social concern despite the many interventions taken. Kkuza saw the need for change and have been determined to reduce the number of these issues since the beginning. There are so many girls affected by teenage pregnancy every year and one of the strategies we want to conduct within the community is a centre for young girls and women who are victims of teenage pregnancy.

Teenage pregnancy is one of the biggest issues in Uganda, one in every four teenage girls between 15 and 19 are pregnant. The Population Secretariat indicates that of the 1.2 million pregnancies recorded in Uganda annually, 25 per cent of these are teenage pregnancies. These more than 300,000 teenagers who get pregnant also account for the bulk of unwanted pregnancies, which end up in unintended births or abortion.

Early marriage, early initiation of sex and lack of information, are said to be the leading drivers of adolescent pregnancy. The lack of access to reproductive health information supported with services, has led teenagers into early sex while poverty and cultural practices continue to force girls into early marriages. Unfortunately, there is not enough support for these women and girls who fall pregnant and often they are abandoned by their partner and families, leaving them to struggle on their own. This can result in serious health concerns for the mother and her child.

Kkuza is passionate about making and seeing a decrease in the number of teenage girls who fall pregnant every year. While we are already combating the issue of teenage pregnancy through regular education and sensitisations within Butambala District, we feel building a centre that is solely dedicated to cater to the needs of struggling teenagers and mothers, we would see a big change in the number of teenage pregnancies within the community.

KCF is seeking a grant to construct a centre that provides a safe space and environment, medical care and education, counselling and psychological support, and life skilling for teenagers prenatal and postnatal. The mission of KCF is to empower and strengthen new mothers to eventually be able to support and raise a successful child.

GOALS

The goal of constructing a Girl’s centre for pregnant teenagers and mothers in Butambala District is to support them through various care and services to empower and enable them to properly care for their child and support themselves within their community.

BENEFICIARIES

  • The project will directly benefit many women and girls who are struggling with teenage pregnancy and becoming a new mother in Butambala District
  • It will benefit the new generation in that these new mothers can adequately care for their child and raise good children

2. KKUZA MEDICAL CLINIC

In 2019, Kuzza children’s foundation was founded in the community of Lugali – butambala district. We are working in a rural area with remote medical facilities with limited medicine.

The significant number of people within the population of 19,900 with one medical facility, the community members have really struggled with this and do not take their children for necessary health care such as check-ups and immunisation and pregnant women and elderly people don’t regularly meet their doctors. As a result of this, many people turn to self-medication and wait until the sickness worsens. This is all due to the long distance and the insufficient number of medicines and medical equipment within the facility. Due to these challenges raised by the community members, Kkuza children’s foundation have conducted various programs including an annual medical camp, education events, cleaning wells, hygiene and sanitation promotion and Sexual reproductive health services for adolescents etc.

The annual medical camp supports the community through providing education, psychosocial support and counselling, overall health checks, free medications, testing for HIV/AIDS and immunisations for children. The education days provide knowledge to the community about various topics including teenage pregnancy, hygiene and cleanliness, sexual reproductive health, nutrition and common diseases. Cleaning the wells within the community ensures that everyone is getting clean water and stopping the spread of water bourn sickness and disease.

GOALS

Kkuza hopes to start a health clinic that provides the highest quality and most accessible care physically, mentally and psychosocially for all children and families. Health and wellbeing are such an important part of a community and as an organisation we want to ensure that everyone is able to seek the adequate care and treatment necessary.

BENEFICIARIES

  • The project will directly benefit many women and girls who are struggling with teenage pregnancy and becoming a new mother in Butambala District
  • It will benefit the new generation in that these new mothers can adequately care for their child and raise good children
