SPIRITUAL EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM
Kkuza Children’s foundation started by tackling issues of teenage pregnancy and child neglect though sensitizations, community engagement, involving law and also preaching gospel to the community. As a Christ-based organisation, we are passionate about seeing a change in the issues mentioned above but at the core of the different actions we take is sharing the love of God, hence the birth of the New Hope Ministries (NHM).
NHM has a mission of encouraging others to find hope in Jesus, who will restore their hearts and a vision of seeing a community transformed through hope. This ministry was started in Butambala which for decades has been known to be a Muslim community, therefore we were hesitant to start NHM as we were unsure how many people would be interested in learning about Christ. Yet now there is approximately 80 church members with over 40 of them who have been baptised and over 50 children attending our Sunday School program
Currently NHM has many different programs during week, including prayers and fasting, church practises, fellowships and bible studies, monthly overnight prayers and Sunday services. As well as many regular programs, there are many community outreach events and annual women’s conferences (Restored Women’s conference).
Since starting NHM, we have seen a difference in the community where hearts have been transformed as well as a strong fellowship of Christ followers who support each other. We are looking forward to seeing the work God will continue to do through NHM as the number of church members increases.
Kkuza Children’s Foundation is seeking to support and start new churches in other regions where God calls us and we will continue to guide and teach others about the love and hope of Christ
WE CELEBRATE CHRIST BECAUSE OF WHAT HIS LOVE HAS DONE FOR US
ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM
With Kkuza Children’s Foundation focusing on Teenage pregnancy and Child Neglect, we have seen a big part of these issues is poverty and financial stresses. The economic empowerment program aims to eradicate poverty through providing opportunities for demoted families to secure decent livelihoods, gather assets and influence institutions that determine development and growth. Our main goal is to improve the resilience, food security, and income status of households for the sustainable wellbeing
Since KCF is currently based in Butambala we have seen a significant need for economic development. As it is a community that sources income and relies heavily on agriculture, there can be many factors (such as weather conditions etc.) that make this difficult and force families and individuals into poverty.
As an organisation, we are looking to make a change through educating the community about finances and savings, demonstrating different skills that can be used within businesses and providing goods and financial support where necessary.
KCF promotes skills development programmes for children and youths to attain skills in tailoring (Textile & Design), Mechanical Engineering, book-making, soap making, dance (ballet) classes, brass band training, Art, and jewelry making etc. This is designed to enable them to live meaningfully by contributing to their social and economic welfare.
KCF is helping to increase access to livelihood support services that benefit the most disadvantaged children, youth and families. This enables vulnerable communities to acquire skills, including tailoring skills, financial management skills, modern farming skills, business startup, book making skills and business growth.
Some of the ways KCF have already supported the community and made a difference is through the ’50 Bags 50 families project’, The ‘Liquid Soap’ project, Kkuza Women’s Saving group and sensitisations with youth and women about being financially successful. As well as this we have helped victims of teenage pregnancy by equipping them with skills like tailoring, liquid soap making etc. to enable them to sustain a living and support themselves.
We have already seen an impact in the community where more people are making a living for themselves and are more financially stable. For example, one woman has created a business of selling liquid soap and crafts. We are looking forward to continue supporting this community through conducting more projects that will boost the economic status
But if you can create an honorable livelihood, where you take your skills and use them and you earn a living from it, it gives you a sense of freedom and allows you to balance your life the way you want.
